Where did you see this?

Could it be related to ATEX or intrinsically safe?

config setting for data aq from accelerometer

asks for iex source and value

iex source is either internal or external and is a current source

I was just wondering what the acronym stood for as i couldnt find it anywhere

Probably "internal excitation".  That or Current Excitation since the symbol for current is "I".

I'm with crossrulz on this one. I've usually seen Iex in reference to bridge circuits where excitation current/voltage is common.
