why can't i use tab to shift the funcitons in tool palette?

i used LabVIEW6.1 before last week, and i'm familiar with the function that i can use Tab keys to shift the functions in Tool palette, such as Operate Value, Position/Size/Select, Edit Text, Connect Wire, etc. it's quick. but now the Tab keys doesn't work well after i'm trying the LabVIEW8.0 trial version.  i need move mouse to fit position of fit function. it troubles me. i can't find out how to keep the former setting. is here anyone can help me?

As you describe it, you have "Automatic Tool Selection" active. Open the tools window and the uppermost button should be active (conatins an led and tools) deactivate it and you should be able to tab again.
