Did you mean:

why do my 6.1 vi's open labview 6i

wheeler,

Please follow these directions:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. On the menu bar, choose Tools»Folder Options.
3. Select the File Types tab.
4. Choose the VI extention in the box.
5. Press the Advanced button.
6. Select the open action and press the Edit button.
7. Make sure LabVIEW 6.1 is the application in "Application used to perform this action." For you, this should just involve changing the "LabVIEW 6" section of the directory structure to "LabVIEW 6.1".

I would also keep the RegisterExtentions=False line in the LabVIEW 6i INI file.

It sounds like your file associations in Windows has been changed. How to fix the problem depends on the windows version. Type in file associations under a windows help screen and follow the instructions on how to change file associations. Make sure your vi's are associated with labview 6.1. Hope this helps!

In NT: Enter windows explorer. Click on View, Folder Options, and then the File Types tab.

Sounds like you're getting desperate. How about un-installing 6i? Just make sure you make backups, etc.

will i lose anything by uninstalling 6i if i used it to upgrade to the 6.1 version. I thought about that, but the only problem is that the 6i version has the application builder, which i may need for another project that is not yet closed. the upgrade to 6.1 did not come with the application builder. i don't want to lose my application builder!!
