Activating Visual Studio 2008 Conversion Wizard

I'm running LabWindows CVI 2010 and Measurement Studio for MS Visual Studio 2008. I need to convert a decent sized project from a CVI project to a visual C++ solution in MSVC++ 2008, and I want to use the conversion wizard to do it. Problem is, I don't know the algorithm for launching the conversion wizard. Is it in Measurement Studio or LabWindows?

I have not used it but according to this page you must have Visual Studio installed, next run CVI installer which will have the option to install the appropriate conversion wizard.

Let's see if some NI people can comment on this. I whould like to know whether the conversion wizard installs also in case of Visual Studio Express software installed on the system or not.

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

I think I read somewhere that it doesn't work on visual studio express. I'll see if I can find the article.

I reran the install of Lab Windows 2010, but did not see the conversion wizard option. I already have Visual Studio 2008 installed. Any ideas?

Hi SummerIntern,

What was your order of installation? Did you install CVI first or Visual Studio? Are you looking for the wizard in CVI or Visual Studio? Let me know.

I installed Visual Studio 2008 first, then CVI. I did not see the Wizard in the optional features portion of the installation, but I did find it in Visual Studio after install. Now I'm getting an error saying that CVI is not installed, despite the fact that I have both the conversion wizard and CVI project wizard running in MS Visual Studio.

Hi SummerIntern,

Have you tried running CVI on your machine yet? Some of CVIs libraries are notfully licensed until you start it up and run it. Let me know if this helps.

I have compiled a few things through CVI. I still get the error message below:

"LabWindows/CVI must be installed in order to run the project wizard. Install LabWindows/CVI and try again."

Should I do a reinstall?

Hi SummerIntern,

Trying the reinstall is a great idea. Here is a link that will show you how to do it from the command line:
