1394 (FireWire) is a device bus, similar to PCI or USB, and unlike Serial or GPIB. To communicate over 1394 you would need a device driver or driver development software such as Microsoft's Driver Development Kit (DDK). You can find some 1394 general drivers online. There is no support for driver development in CVI as it is an application software environments.
