Attempting to start CVI produces a NI LabVIEW 7.1 dialog, "Please wait while Windows configures NI LabVIEW 7.1". which then stalls.

On Saturday, April 8, I updated Developer Suite. If I attempt to start CVI, a Windows installer - NI LabVIEW dialog appears with "Please wait while Windows configures NI LabVIEW 7.1". Unfortunately, it then stalls and CVI doesn't load. Using the taskmanager to close the LabWiew window also closes CVI. If I run LabVIEW first, CVI loads and runs normally.

Hi,

This looks like a bad installation to me, at some point the msi entries are messed up and CVI launches the LabVIEW installer. I would start by uninstalling and reinstalling CVI. Make sure that you reboot in between installations.

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly through phone or email at http://www.ni.com/support to get some help on getting this machine up a running.

I hope this helps.

I have a few questions.

1. What version of CVI are you talking about?
2. What OS are you using? Language?
3. Are you stuck in this situation, or after running LabVIEW once, can you start CVI from now on?
4. Did you upgrade LabVIEW?

I have not been able to reproduce this on my WinXP machine with CVI 7.0 and LV 7.1.

1. CVI 7.0, May 2004 distribution CD.
2. Windows XP - English
3. I was stuck in this situation. I also had occasional problems starting LabView after first reporting the problem with CVI.
4. Yes, this started after upgrading LabView to version 7.1.

Happily, uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks,
Duncan
