Hi all,
I started using CVI 2010 almost immediately after its release and I'm finding that two of the older version's features that I use regularly are either missing or have changed and I don't know where to enable them:
1. UIR file - when in Operation Mode, I used to be able to see the events generated by clicking a control. They would appear in the upper right "button" bar at the top of the screen. This was very useful for figuring out event generation for various controls. I didn't use it all the time, but I need it now because I'm trying to set up a table so that the user can only select one row at a time and I cannot see what events are generated by clicking on the row header or cells.
2. When doing a diff (Edit->Diff With) on two files, there was a hot key combination that allowed me to find the next difference between the files. This is gone so now I have to use the menu each time I want to get to the next area of the files that differs. I can do this but it is much more time consuming than using the hot keys.
Thanks,
Judy

Judy,
In CVI 2010, you can do both of these things. If you click on a control in Operator Mode, the event that is registered shows up on the bottom left, as seen in the picture below.
The hot key for finding the next difference is Ctrl+Shift+A in 2010 as well.
Are these not working for you? Please let me know if they are not. Thanks!

Hi Jen,
Thanks for your reply. I typically use the Classic View when I work - I like to see all the windows I have open and move them around. When I switched to the Integrated View, I could see the events in Operation mode, so that answers that question. I still wish I could see them in the classic view as before, so if there's a fix-it list you guys are keeping, I'd appreciate it if you could add that one in.
As for the file diffs, I don't get that short cut key combination in either view. I am attaching a jpeg of what I see regardless of the view mode I choose. Is there an update to the IDE? Note that I also have CVI 9.0 installed on my machine. Would that gum up the works?
Thanks,
Judy

Not sure why this shortcut key is not present in your IDE; it isn't in my CVI2009 too!
In any case, shortcut keys can be edited and modified/reassigned using Options >> Change Shortcut Keys... menu item. The function shows up a list of operations thyat can be assigned a shortcut key with actual assignement: each element can be edited and assigned a key combination to call it. The function also lists available free keys useful in case you want to add some accelerator to functions that haven't assigned any of them.

Thanks Roberto! That takes care of that 🙂

Judy,
If you ever have a suggestion for CVI, you can always post it on the Idea Exchange.
Give kudos for any ideas you like!
