CVI 8.1
Vision Dev Module 8.2.1
Vision RunTime
I have developed an app that uses the VDM to display data from non-IMAQ hardware.
A customer wants a copy of my app.
I have purchased the Vision Runtime License to distribute this one copy.
There is a problem is with the distribution option under this rev of CVI.
When I edit the distribtion and go the the "Drivers & Components" tab there is NO option
to add the Vision Runtime, whereas, on a system where I have IMAQ installed, it correctly
shows up. The IMAQ machine has a PCI-1426 framegrabber. But I can't create the distribution
there because of a message "Unknown error has occured" popup that kills the process.
I've installed CVI and VDM (no IMAQ) on another computer temporarily to create the build but
it doesn't list the VDM.
Any ideas or is there an alternate way to create a CVI with VDM distribution?
Thanx.

This knowledge base explains how to deploy the Vision Runtime Engine without installing IMAQ. It is written for LabVIEW users, but applies equally to CVI. The original versions of the Vision 8.x RTE installers did not support redistribution via the CVI or LabVIEW distribution builders. The knowledge base article links to updated versions of the Vision 8.x RTEs that have this support added.
As far as the "Unknown error" popup, if you can consistently run into it, could you please post a debug log for us to examine? To create one, bring up the distribution editor dialog, select the tab control (dotted rectangle should be on one of the tab labels), press ctrl+shift+L, then build your distribution. The output log will be found at C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\distBuildDbg.txt. We could then try to determine if this is a bug that has been fixed previously.
