CVI 8 IDE is a CPU pig

Just loaded CVI 8 tonight.  I like what I see, but I noticed that the cooling fan on my development laptop was on more of the time.  Right off, I noticed that the CPU usage for the IDE is higher than I remember it being with CVI 7.  So, I used PerfMon to quantify the situation under different scenarios with the CVI 8 IDE idle (no clicking, no typing, no compiling, etc.):
minimized = 9.7%
maximized, source file open, no focus = 9.7%
maximized, source file open, with focus = 14.9%

For an approximate 'control', I ran PerfMon on another developer's laptop (same hardware model) with CVI 7 loaded onto it:
minimized = 0-6% (it goes 0 for a while, then 'wakes up' to 6 for a while, then goes back to zero, etc.)
maximized, source file open, no focus = same as minimized
maximized, source file open, with focus = same as minimized

Does anyone else see this?  Surely this would be limited to the IDE--or will it translate into the runtime environment as well (new 'personality' to CVI 8 RTE, etc.)?  I'm not running a dual Xeon laptop, of course, actually it is a maturing P3-600.  Do any of the P4 or the Xeon or the 'insert_your_processor_here' people see similar behavior?
