CVI crash after (implausible) memory warning

Hi Trent,

"just the build tools" still is a long list of software to be installed, see below. In general I do not like installing and uninstalling software on my computer, according to my experience it does not improve stability... So if possible I'd like to minimize the checkboxes required - can you help?

Thanks!MSVS.png

Hi Trent,

may I come up with two alternative suggestions?

Instead of me having to install GB of additional software, can't you send me a cvi.exe compiled with this switch by PM? Or assemble a more complex project on your side by adding some source code files with sufficient function definitions.

Thank you for consideration Smiley Happy

Thanks for your PM!

The good news is that now F1 / help is working without crash even after the complete browsing info has been generated, (resulting in a memory usage of 1345 MB).

It's rare that someone hits this limit in the ADE (first time i've heard of it), but this seems to confirm that the error dialog is accurate. The remaining question is if CVI can do anything to optimize memory usage in this situation. I'll need to reproduce the issue here to investigate further. What's an estimate of the project size i need to reproduce this?

Hi Trent,

I can upload the project to your ftp if you wish. Source code is around 8...9 MB (with ~ 1/2 of comments) and yes, I agree, I find it a bit surprising that CVI needs 1,3 GB for browse information, i.e. 150 times as much...

Thanks for looking into it!
