Are there any plans to port CVI to the LINUX operating system?

As of now, there are no plans to create CVI for the Linux platform.

I hope there are many users out there that would like to see CVI
running on the LINUX operating system.
I have many projects that I need a good development tool like CVI with
a stable operating system like LINUX, I am tired of rebooting Windows
machines.

I call all those people who would like to see CVI on LINUX to raise
their voice so NI would create CVI for LINUX the same as they did with
LabVIEW.

I agree completely with Ori Idan. Let's hope NI will do something in the
next future.

I also agree completely with Ori Idan and Carlo Bucci. We are here considering
turning away from CVI if it cannot be ported to LINUX as we are tryi
ng to
get rid of Windows which is a nuisance in our environment.

I'm using CVI from 1995, I'm completely satisfied of it, but also me I would
appreciate very much a porting under Linux (maybe also compatible with a
real time kernel !).

Under LabVIEW/WinNT we have realized a complete Automation and Control System
for combustion engine test stands including complete heat and power management.
We have more and more trouble with the disadvantages, bugs and performace of LV,
hence we encapsulated a lot of functionality into DLLs, including a complete
TCL-Shell for setup and test management. Since LabView (WinNT) doesn't fit our
(and our customers) requirements in the aspects of costs, service and stability
we must reimplement the complete stuff using a different, more powerfull and
flexible toolkit and a more stable OS.
For the OS, Linux is the best candidate, it provides real-time functionality and
can be scaled down to an embedded control unit.
If NI port
s CVI to Linux, we would give them the last chance - otherwise the'll
be kicked out...

I see that many people would like to see CVI on LINUX.
I hope that NI will respond to this demand soon.

I agree completely with Ori Idan and Carlo Bucci. Me too, I'm quite sure I will turn away from CVI if it cannot run on Linux
