CVI v7.1 won't install with XP home SP2

I have a Sony fxa 32 lap top running XP home with SP2.
I just re-formatted the Hard drive and re-installed XP, then updated to SP2.

I can't install CVI 7.1 or Lab View 7.1.
Toward the end of the installation, non-repeatable errors occur stating that there are Cab file errors with no detail.
The computer crashes if I tell it to continue.  A really ugly error occurs stating that there is a hardware error.

I can install CVI 7.0 and Lab View 7.0 if I tell it to ignore errors loading the run time engines.
I've always had trouble installing and un-installing NI software on this computer, but this time is the worst.
I've never had trouble with other software.
Any ideas ?

Thanks much.

It has nothing to do with XP SP2. I installed both CVI 7.1 and LabView 7.1 on a XP home with SP2 without any problems. I would recommend to copy the content of the CD on the harddrive, and install it from there. Maybe there is a problem with your CD-Rom?
