Good question!
Last response I got from NI several months ago is that there's no support in CVI for building 64 bit versions of anything. NI also would not disclose whether or not they intended to support building 64 bit applications from CVI in the future. I'd have to think that unless they plan on abandoning the CVI product, they'll have to do this to keep the tool relevant once the world moves on to 64 bit OS's.
My understanding is that you can run the 32 bit CVI IDE and build 32 bit applications that run on 64 bit OS's all OK from CVI, but you can't build a true 64 bit application from CVI.
If you search the forum I think you might find a direct answer to this question from NI.

Currently you can only build 32-bit applications with CVI but obviously, you can run these applications on a 64-bit system. Plans to support native 64-bit applications are in consideration. I believe here is the link that menchar was referring to.
Will CVI support building 64 bit binaries?

Hello Derek,
I would just like to add that the ability to do this will be in the next major release of LabWindows/CVI - which is in beta right now. If you would like to sign up for and test creating 64 bit dlls and applications, you can visit ni.com/beta and enroll in the LabWindows/CVI 2009 beta. Let me know if you have any questions!
