Can I embed an explorer type filesystem view as a window within my application so that I can drag and drop files to and from another field?

If you mean having a windows explorer type view within a CVI window, I would insert the Microsoft TreeView activex control on the CVI panel. CVI 6 has great activex support. You can talk to the activex control by using the Activex Controller wizard, which generates C wrappers for activex. CVI 6 currently does not have a built in tree control, but this would be another way to go about it.
