Can I install Labwindows/CVI 7.0 on a machine that already has LabView7.1 installed on it?

When I trired, Labwindows/CVI hangs when I start it.  Just a splash screen is displayed explaining the classic and new project windows.  CVI never starts and I cannot close the splash screen without killing the process in the task manager.

You can have both installed on the same machine just fine. It sounds like something didn't install correctly when you ran the setup. I'd recommend either repairing your install of CVI or uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Also make sure other Windows apps are closed and that you've disabled your anti-virus software during the installation just in case that prevented a part of CVI from installing properly.
