Can't Install CVI examples for NI-845x

I am trying to install the CVI examples that are included with the Version 1.1.1 driver for the NI-845x I2C/SPI USB Interface but no matter what I do the examples are never installed.

I have tried removing everything and doing a complete install as well as just selecting the CVI examples. Nothing appears to work. Is there another method to install these examples?

Thats very unsual indeed, which version of CVI are you using? Also have you tried doing a windows search for any NI-845x examples incase it's been placed elsewhere on your machine outside the scope of the NI Example Finder program?

I am using CVI 7.11 and have also tried with CVI8.1 along with a dyslexic keyboard !!!! Apologies for earlier garbled posts !!!

Windows seach only shows a NI-845x directory under '\Program Files\National Instruments\' that contains directories for Documentation, MS Visual C and staging but no entry for CVI.

The '\National Instruments Downloads\' directory contains the extracted NI-845x files and within this is a 845xSupp.cab file that contains all the example files for CVI, LV71, LV80,LV82,MSVC and others.

I have manually extracted the example files from this cab file and have managed to build a couple of examples that appears to work so all is not lost.

Hi Andy,

No problems, I've had the same thing happen to me on a few occasions with the forums! I will have a look at this for you to see if it does link these through to the example finder at all (I can't see why it wouldn't) - My machine is about to complete a test then I can install these drivers. I will let you know what I find.

It seems as though if you search for "I2C" or "SPI" through the CVI example finder it should pop up with some of the examples, is this the case? I'm afraid I only have 8.5 on my system currently so cannot check if this behaviour links to 7.1

The CVI example finder only shows examples for LabView, no CVI examples, regardless of whether I search for I2C, SPI or DIO.

I do not think they have been installed anywhere on my system and no matter what I do I cannot get the examples to install after using CVI 7.1

I will try again after using CVI 8.01 and see what happens.

Hi Rob,

I started up CVI8.0.1, closed it down and then installed the NI-845x driver package. Found that the examples were installed into the CVI8.0.1 directory and can be found by the example finder for CVI8.0.1.

Can't get them to install into CVI7.1 directory as there is no option to choose directory during the install. Can this be fixed as it makes using the help files a bit tougher if you are using CVI7.1 as well as 8.01.1 ? ( I currently use 7.1 and 8.0.1 for different customers tests.)

Still examples are now installed.
