Converting from imaq1424 to firewire/cameralink

We use an IMAQ1424 card and IMAQ software to control a Redlake es4.0 camera, this camera is going obsolete and the replacement a es4020 has a firewire/cameralink interface. Is it possible to re-use the labwindows/CVI code/libraries generated for the IMAQ1424 ?

Fizzy,

With your new camera firstly you will need to buy either a firewire card, or a camera link card.

Once you have done this and installed, you can reuse the libraries if you are using Camera Link (as the driver layer is beyond CVI and so to CVI there is no difference)

However with Firewire you would need to purchase the firewire drivers at an extra cost, as well as recode your program to allow for the IMAQ1394 commands.

I would therefore suggest that you move to CameraLink as this will reduce the amount of code you will need to change.

Please post back if you require any further information.

Thanx
