Default view for files in folders

Anyone who can help,

When using the 'FileSelectPopup' function, the files are always shown in the standard XP 'List' view, despite having set the default view in XP to 'Details'.

Is it possible to change the CVI default setting to show the 'Details' view?

Many thanks,

Allen Cherry

Hi Allen

Thanks for your post, I have been looking into whether it is possible to change the display of files within CVI, as of yet I have been unable to find any conclusive information on your request, so I am continuing to look into your query and I will let you know if I find anything additional.

I have had a look at the CVI help window and noticed there are some good examples on the fileselectpopup command, if you were unaware of these examples I recommend having a look. While searching the help I also came across a command which describes its task as 'specifies whether file icons appear next to each file' I am not certain this is what you are after, but it may help.

If you have any further questions or would like any further help with this, please let me know.

Thanks

Dear Stephanie,

Many thanks for the reply - I'm encouraged that it isn't an obvious solution!

The attribute that you found in the 'help' is not really relevant to the display of the actual files in the folder , it just puts the appropriate icon alongside the file according to the file suffix and its association to a particular program - e.g. the 'Word' icon if the file's suffix is '.doc'.

If you can find a solution, we would be very grateful.

Best wishes,

Allen

Hi Allen

I have continued to look into the file view for you, but am unable to find the option you are looking for, within CVI there are a few customization options, but file view is not something that can currently be changed. If this is something you would like to see in the future, you can add it to our product suggestion page, where customer suggestions are considered and developed for new releases.

Have fun developing the rest of your application and if you have question in the future create a post and myself or one of my colleagues will be able to help you.

Thanks

I may add that the product suggestion center mentioned above has been superseded by the LabWindows/CVI Idea Exchange, http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI-Idea-Exchange/idb-p/cviideas
