Detect bugs when developing CVI program, which is used to communicate with Teststand.

During developming my CVI programs which communicate with Teststand, sometimes, I could encoutered issues like "the instrution at "0x6c3b5115" referenced memory at... could not be "read", "Unkown issue, Teststand has to shut down...." or "runtime error!, program....Bin\SeqEdit.exe", etc. I know it must be my problem. I also know  to fall into a good habit of programming could be a best way to avoid this kind of trouble. But, I still can not help thinking and wondering: 1, Is there any other recommendations and skills  that could detect the problem quickly? especially when the CVI program is somewhat complicated; 2, Does the error message indeed help me? because sometimes, the error message could say like "unknow error".
I like CVI and Teststand very much, but always was disappointed by "unknow error" and "sudden shutdown". Hope again here that somebody could direct me.

  Thanks!
