Do I have to un-install LabWindows/CVI 8.01 to install 8.1?

Hi,

We just received: (label on the box)

"Upgrade, Labwindows/CVI Full Development System, Version 8.01 to Version 8.1 for Windows 2000/XP"

The "Labwindows/CVI Release Notes" document included says to un-install 8.01 before installing or install in a different directory.

Given this is an upgrade is it really necessary to un-install Version 8.01 first?

If so what about my NI-DAQmx stuff?

Kirk,

You don't have to uninstall 8.0.1 first. You can have both 8.1 and 8.0.1 installed in the same machine. But you can only use some drivers, such as DAQmx, from one of the installations. So, if you want to use DAQ from 8.1 (and not 8.0.1), you'll have to upgrade or uninstall/reinstall the NI-DAQ product. When you do, it should automatically install to your CVI 8.1 installation.
