False promises...

This morning I was browsing the NI web site and came across the 'New Features in CVI' page here . As usual, the number of checkmarks increases with the version number Smiley Wink, but I was surprised to see that the PID toolkit is claimed to belong to CVI since 8.1.... To my knowledge, this toolkit does not belong to CVI, it has to be purchased separately... (or is this a hidden goodie?)

Hi,

You are right, this toolkit does not belong to CVI and has to be purchased separately. (see http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/11125 )

This information on the product page seems to be missleading and needs to be corrected or clarified in a better way.

The way its written there I would have understood the same thing you did.

I started a corrective action request to have this information clarified.

Thank you for paying attention.

I thought there was a version of CVI that included all of the toolkits - Enterprise Edition or whatever NI calls the top-end CVI product.  $4000 or more.

But the PID toolkit (which I've purchased and used - I like it) isn't included in the other CVI bundles and maybe not any of them any more.

I remember seeing this a while back and thinking NI had decided to distribute it with all versions of CVI but digging deeper it became apparent that they aren't.

Yup, it's part of the "NI Developer Suite" for a mere $4999.  But, that's a bundle that includes LabView as well as LabWindows/CVI - they don't use the term "LabWindows/CVI" when referring to the Developer Suite.
