GPIBErrorToString

Why doesn't the CVI GPIB library have an ErrorToString( ) function like the rs-232 library does?

menchar,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.

I am unable to find this specific function that you are referring to. Please reference the LabWindows/CVI Standard Libraries Reference Manual which goes into detail concerning the GPIB functions that can be used in CVI. If you are unable to find the explanation you are looking for, please give me more information concerning this specific function, and I would be more then happy to look into it.

Thank you very much and hope you have a great day.

char * GetRS232ErrorString ( iError ) , part of the CVI rs232 library.

Why not

char * GetGPIBErrorString (iError)   ?

menchar,

You are able to read the iberr to determine the error that you are receiving. Error Variable (iberr) is the GPIB error variable. If a call failed with an error, the ERR bit is set in ibsta. The iberr value describes the GPIB error that occurred.

For more information about the iberr and the error values, please reference the NI-488.2 Help, which is found at Start >> All Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-488.2 >> NI-488.2 Help.

Hope you have a great day.

menchar,

It currently is not a function in the GPIB library. You are more then welcome to file a product suggestion at www.ni.com/contact and I will also file a product suggestion. It will then be taken under consideration for possible improvements to the product.

Thank you very much.
