General Protection Fault

Hello Al,

To reply to your previous question: I am still unable to reproduce the problem using your example code both on a 98 and NT test machine.

Thanks.

Hi Wendy,

1 way which i seem to get the error to occur though not frequently but using this method, i have made it to appear quite a few times is:

1. Open the .cws, and set the configuration to Release
2. Close the whole program including LabWindows, then go to the folder with the project and delete the folder CVIbuild, any .exe and .cdb
3. open the .cws again and click on the small green triangle on the toolbar (degbug).
4. run the program till u see the popup click ok and the error msg might appear.

Let me know if this works. Thanks

Regards
AL

Hi wendy,

sorry to trouble you.

i have found a sort of pattern on the win98 system. I have attached the very same files which i test.
Tested on win98 pc, running labwindows 7.0 licensed copy.

1. Download the zip file, extract the files into a folder
2. Reboot system
3. Open folder, double-click on simple.cws
4. click on small triangle (Debug) on the toolbar
5. a msg popup will appear, click on run debug configuration
6. there are many breakpoints in the program just keep pressing F5
7. When program appears, click/enter start.....continue with pressing F5....
8. Program appears again, click/enter stop after a while say counter increases to 3
9. Continue with F5.... then a popup will appear saying program terminated
10. click on ok (error msg may appear already or just about now) if not continue pressing F5
11. continue with steps 6 onwards, if after 3 or more times error msg do not appear, try from step 2 but do delete the old folder and reextract the files.

I know the above steps are quite tedious, but everytime i reboot and run the sample, about 99% of the time, the error occurs.

Thank you very much for you patience and help

Regards
AL
