How: Different external lib files for debug/release CVI builds?

Hello.

I need to switch linking external .lib files depending on the debug/release build.
How to do it using NI CVI 2012 and/or 2017?

CVI doesn't allow using different libraries depending on release/debug configuration. You can use only different libs for 32/64-bit configurations.

I wonder, why do you need different libs?
