How secure is DataSocket?

I have suggested that my company use DataSocket to eliminate the problems we have of reading Live data across ours and customers firewalls. I suggested we set up a "DMZ" running DataSocket to allow us to push out data from our network and also from their network, This way we can come in from either and read what we need. They immediatly replied no, as it is not secure. Potentially valuable data could be read from anyone with simple network knowledge. Is this true? Can Datasocket be secures to only allow certain people to view? I have search for this type of issue on your site but you have little info.

There is one KnowledgeBase that discusses this issue briefly, over at Datasocket Security. The Datasocket Manager we provide can help administrators to allow/disallow access to the server by IP address, so security per computer is possible. However, if the concern is because of machines with multiple users then Datasockets may not be the way to proceed. Datasockets can however work with firewalls through specified ports, and this may/may not be an issue for your company as well.

Thanks Elaine! Although this is not the answer I had hoped for, it did stimulate an idea that might solve our (My) problem.
