If I create an application and sell it to my customer, do my customers need to buy anything from NI?

I have created an application using CVI. I do not have any hardware that goes with it. Just CVI runtime is needed to run this application.

Can I distribute this application to unlimited people without having them buying anykind of license/runtime from NI?

Thanks.

Your customer does not need to purchase a licence for the CVI runtime engine, which is free sofware.

You only need a separate licence if your program uses some toolkits or activex control or other components sold separately.

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

That's correct, the CVI Runtime is a free download, and anything that is a free download is freely distributable. In your case, your customers do not need to purchase anything unless your application needs a purchased piece of software or hardware.

In fact, you can include the CVI runtime engine while creating an application. All the other supporting softwares if at all needed such as DAQ, VISA, MAX are free to download.

DAQ and MAX are free. VISA is also free as long as the target machine is using NI hardware. If it's not using NI hardware, I believe you can deploy up to 100 installations of the VISA runtime for free.

Since I'm not completely positive, you should probably confirm the VISA situation with your NI salesperson.
