LabWindows 2009 device driver installation on XP64

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I received a nice package today, containing the new LabWindows 2009. When trying to install the device drivers I encountered the following error message:

This installation cannot be executed on the 64bit edition of Microsoft Windows XP.

Just as a hint for anyone else using this type of OS.

Hello Wolfgang,

Indeed, Windows XP x64 is not supported by most NI drivers and software.  For 64-bit support, we fully support both Windows Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64.

Hi Seth,

I see. Just for curiosity, what is so different between XP64 and e.g. Vista 64bit?

Probably it is the same issue: In the 'What's new' section of CVI its says that it is possible to build 64 bit applications on any system..., but when I switch to debug 64 mode I receive the library load error: cannot find 64 bit program file for library 'NET library'.

In this context, too: what I do like is the enhanced status bar of the CVI IDE, telling if one is in debug or release mode.

Hey Wolfgang -

Actually - you've stumbled upon one of the few libraries we were unable to port for this release of CVI.  The  .NET library is currently only available for building 32 bit applications, regardless of which OS you are on.

I'm glad you like the new status bar.  Be sure to pay attention to it in all aspects of the ADE, we've worked to make sure it shows quite a bit more meaningful information than it has in the past.
