Labview 7 evaluation software cannot see my USB6009 but other programs can.

Hi,

I am currently using Labview 7 evaluation software for Windows XP.

I use this in conjunction with an NI USB-6009.

I have two problems. Firstly, Labview (using the Instrument I/O assistant) does not recognise the USB device but other software such as NI Datalogger and MAX can see it when it is attached to my computer.
The led on the device is flashing.

Secondly, in Labview 7 evaluation software I do not have the DAQ assistant tool. Is this available to evaluation software users, and if so, how do I install it or when can I obtain it from.

Many thanks in anticipation

You might have more luck posting your query to the LABVIEW forum, rather than this LABWINDOWS one!

Peter, If this has been posted elsewhere, please point to that thread so that I can give a complete solution to the community. Firstly the Instrument I/O Assistant is never used with DAQ products, this is for GPIB/Serial type instrument control. You have probably got this mixed up with the DAQ Assistant, especially if it isn't there. The DAQ Assistant is part of the DAQmx driver and this must be installed before it can be used. Very recently DAQmx 7.5 was released which now allows you to use the DAQ Assistant in conjunction with a USB-6009 or USB-6008. Prior to this, DAQmx Base was used with the USB products. Check out the following links for the 7.5 download and some additional information.

P.S. In normal operating conditions the LED located on the device will blink, and is not expected to be illuminated constantly.
