Linux/CVI : which packages for embedded pc ?

I have installed CVI for Linux on my labtop in order to be abble to developpe software for small embedded pc.
As these small embedded pc use no hard disk but a smaller compact flash memory, I have to minimise the number of data written on the memory.

So, if a "standard" software with no specific driver (ex : serial.prj) is fully created on my labtop using the same Linux kernel (Aurox based on Redhat),
- is it enough to have nicvirte-8.0.6.i396.rpm installed on a computer if no software is created on that pc (only running) ?

On installing all the packages on my labtop, i have been required to install kernel dev. package.

Can you precise all the dependance ?

Normaly the system on the embedded pc will have only a kernel file, a small root files system and Xwindows if nothing else is required.
