Minor grid lines color

Is there some (undocumented?) way to alter the color of minor grid lines in graphs and stripchart controls or am I missing something?
At present, you can set only the major grid color, and the minor grid is generated automagically with a darker color. This work "well" (let's say) on dark backgrounds but it's totally unacceptable on lighter (i.e. white) background.

to my knowledge there is no way to do so, but six years ago I suggested to change that, see here.
