Opening CVI with source control unavailable?

Hi:

I'm using CVI 8.0.1 and have connected it to Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe for source control. Although it is a pain to setup, once it is connected to a project it works quite well.

However, often I would like to open my CVI projects when my computer is off of the network, and thus Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe is unavailable. When this happens, CVI hangs for several minutes until a 'Unable to open source control' type message appears. Sometimes CVI hangs without even getting to this popup.

Is there a way of opening a CVI project with a command line option that temporarily disables the source control connection? Or is there a way of reducing the source control connection timeout to something very small (10seconds) ?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave

CVI does not have a command line option to disable SCC connections, but you can disable it yourself by going to the registry and renaming/removing the "SccProvider" key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments\CVI\8.0\Environment\.

Make sure CVI is not running when you make this change.

When you want to restore the connection, you will need to recreate the key or reconnect from inside CVI.

You mentioned that setting up CVI with Sourcesafe was a pain. What part was painful? Getting CVI to talk to Sourcesafe or actually setting up Sourcesafe itself?
