PlotY function causing "general protection fault" in cvirte.dll

Okay, now I understand what you meant. The MSI you installed is not intended for external use. It's an internal component of our installer, and the behavior you saw is pretty much what is expected if someone tried to install it directly.

I can understand your desire to not mess up your 7.0 install, but a couple of post earlier you mentioned that you were trying to install the beta 7.1 cvirte "on a machine that has never seen any NI related software." If that's the case, then you shouldn't have to worry about anything being messed up. Actually, even if you do have CVI 7.0, installing the 7.1 beta will only affect the 7.0 stuff insofar as the RTE is co
ncerned (it will replace the 7.0 RTE with the 7.1 RTE). So installing only the 7.1 RTE would not remove this interaction.

We do recommend that you install the 7.1 beta (the full 7.1 beta) on a clean machine. But if all you have is CVI 7, things should still work okay. We do that here all the time.
