Printed books for CVI 5.5

Hi,

I've given up trying to find any information on National's web site.

I was just surprised to finding CVI 5.5 installed on my test platform.
I'm accustomed to working from CVI 5.0 and the behavior and IDE are
different enough that I'm going to have to re-learn how to use CVI.

But I can't seem to find any printed manuals that accompanied the CVI
5.5 license.

Should there be printed manuals, or has National decided on-line manuals
are sufficient? (They're not, IMO.) How can I get printed manuals?

TIA for any help ...

Hello B,
You can find Adobe Acrobat (easily printable) versions of the CVI manuals in two locations. The CVI 5.5 manuals should be installed on your system and available both from the Start Menu at "Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> Measurement Studio >> Online Help >> CVI Manuals" and on your hard drive at "\manuals". The manuals for CVI 4 and up are also available at "http://www.ni.com/manuals". We did not ship a set of printed manuals with CVI 5.5. Also, it sounded like you may have missed some of the good links on our website; the following are some of my favorite and informative links:
http://zone.ni.com/libraries/
http://www.ni.com/support/
http://www.ni.com/public/
http://www.ni.com/download/

$2500 a pop and books not even available! Who do you think you are -
Microsoft!??

Anyone got a printer that holds enough paper and ink to print out these
manuals? Then there's the binders.

Will my 5.0 books become collectors items?

Thanks for your help.

I went back the next day, without the added pressure of a colleague
waiting for me to produce output, and discovered that the changes from
version 5.1 to 5.5 aren't that much. I also opened the on-line manual
at my desk, on my 21" monit
or which I have set to high-res (compared to
the 15" monitor at medium res, which is what's available to me in the
lab) and was able to see the illustrations.

On-line books are *not* adequate!!!

Thanks for these. I'll be sure to check them out.
