Problems with installing "old" LabWindows/CVI applications on WIndows 2000, get error saying can't find script *.INF.

We have some old LabWindows applications that were written 2 to 5 years ago, probably on Windows 95. We are now trying to install the distribution kit on Windows 2000. I get an error that states, "Can't find installation script file *.INF" in a popup and then nothing. Can anyone help me with this?

Hello

Some things to look out.

Make sure you have admin rights when you are installing the distribution kit.

There was a problem reported with CVI 4.0, where using long filenames would cause a similar error. When creating any folders, make sure that the folder name is not too long and does not have any spaces.

Also try copying over all the files from the cd to the hard drive, and start the install from there.

Here are some documents that explain how to debug a distribution. These documents are valid for the older versions of CVI that did not use the Microsoft Installer Technology.

Thanks for the help. I did make sure that I had admin rights. These are "old" installations from several years ago, in the "old" distribution kit format (application.001, application.002, etc). They have worked fine on Windows 95 and 98 in the past. But we get the error message I mentioned when installing on Windows 2000. I was hoping there was something I could do to fix the problem, other than recompiling the program and making a new distribution kit.

I did try to copy the files onto the hard drive, the same thing happened.
