In a word... No.
I found a get-round, meaning I found a method to get a working result
whilst ignoring the fundamental problem. Not an elegant solution
by any means ("nut-cracking with sledge-hammers" comes to mind), but it
means I can move on to other problems. I may revisit this in a
few months, if I get time, but life may just be too short...
