SetActivePanel and DisplayPanel ?

Hello all,
For an an already displayed panel, I fail to see the distinction between
SetActivePanel() and DisplayPanel(). What are the differences ?

Particularly on Linux and Linux through remote X connection, they seem to be
identical (that is, they both fail to make the activated panel the _top_
active one).
Thanks.

i know it's an old thread but i'm interested in the aswer for this question.

i've noticed that, if you have a command button with a shortcut key, when you load a panel with the display panel and in the tab order the number 0 is not on an active object the shortcut doesn't work altought with the SetActivePanel it's seem to work correctly.
