VISA,RS232, NI USB DAQ 6008 stopped working!!

Please read the attached file. I can't make it feet within 1000 characters, so I can't post it directly. It is about a LabWindows CVI 8.0 application that was working fine (Involving VISA, a DSO, NIDAQ 6008 and an RS232/USB adpator) and suddenly stop working. I've tried to describe the situation the best I could.
Please, I really need  help to find a logical explanation.

I can't answer your questions with regard to the RS-232 problems, but I can tell you that we experienced a lot of problems with DAQmx 8.0.1 and USB devices of the type you are reporting. Try installing a later DAQmx (8.3 or 8.3.1).

Hi Mulan,

I already have been faced with some similar issues with USB-600x family, and maybee this can help you.

My problems are related with the current drawn by USB device (from USB port): some PC and some adds-on USB cards doesn't supply enough current to the USB-600x.

Unfortunately I have any solution for this: one time I was forced to change the laptop used for my application, in a second time I observed a different behaviour between fron and back USB ports on the PC.

Best Regards

baloss

Hi,

I 've solved the problem 🙂

As baloss suggests, this problem seems to be related to current drawn issues (from usb pc ports).

To try this I have attached the USB6008 to the PC through an USB HUB with EXTERNAL power supply and .... IT DID WORK Smiley Happy

I have tried the solution with NIDAQ 8.0.1 and NIDAQ 8.3 and it did work fine for both versions.

Thank you all for the support!!Smiley Wink

Regards,

.
