Variables window has strange text in XP

I have installed LabWindows/CVI 6.0 on Windows XP Professional and everything appears fine until I bring up the "Variables" window. At this point, I see text that is grayed out and looks like some form of arabic. If I click on it, it brings up a window with the correct variable name and value, but when I return, I still have the arabic symbols. This text is not on all lines of the Variables window, only some, and I seem to be able to work around it, but it is distracting and I would like to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Judy,

This is a very strange issue, I've never heard of anything like this before. There are a couple of thing to try:

+Modify the Windows registry to set the font of the CVI editor window. The variables window uses the font from the editor, so changes in the editor font should be reflected in the variable window. You can add a key in the CVI registry folder that defines the editor view. first run Regedit.exe, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>SOFTWARE>>National Instruments>>CVI>>7.0 while selecting this folder you can right click on the right areaof the window to add a new string key. Name the key EditorFontName; then you can double-click on it to change the valu to a new font. Closing and reopening CVI should reflect this new settings. You can find mo
re information on this is the CVI help, look for a topic named "font options".

+The next thing to try is make sure that your OS is configured for english. Regardless of the Windows installation you can set a different language i the control panel, make sure that you are using english font display.

I hope this helps, please let me knwo how this goes.

Hi JuanCarlos,

I tried all of the above and nothing worked. Still getting the wierd characters in the variable window. I also tried setting font options in the project window which didn't seem to make any difference at all.
