What are you doing with patches!?!

After reading all this, I'm not sure I want to install any patch...

BTW, thanks guys for sharing the problems.

Is there is list of known bugs? Often, when a developper sees a bugs, they looks at their own code to try to fix it. However, it may take a long time to realize or discover that the bug actually resides elsewhere.

I don;t think people expect CVI to be completely bug-free, but it would help to know what behavior to expect and any known workarounds.

Thanks,

Ray

If there is some behavior you suspect might be a bug, feel free to ask on the forum. We can always confirm whether it's a bug or user error.

Hi Bilal,

Sorry... I didn't mean to create a panic 😉

We have a large project with multiple developpers working on it.
As soon as we have a strange behavior, we look at it as a bug in our code.
After 1 - 2 days of searching, we discover that it is a limitation elsewhere (in the code or library).
Unfortunately, there is no documentation on those limitations, etc..

To make a long story short, what would be nice is if there are known bugs (or in our case "features"), it would be nice to have access to a list. We could search it and find out if we are trying to debug someothing out of our control.

As for LW-CVI, we are using the latest and I am quite satisfied with it. I am running 7.1.0.306.

The only annoying issue is when you change windows with another application and return to CVI, the menu portion of CVI does not re-appear unless you minimize and maximize it. We bought several licenses at the same time, so we have it installed on PC's ranging from Dell's to clones. All have that behavior. It is not a show stopper, but annoying just the same.

Hey Joe,
The GUI misbehavior was covered in another (at times exciting ;>) thread, but won't be fixed until some future release.

I guess no one liked my idea of using the NI News email that comes out regularly to advertise bugs resolved and bugs not yet resolved...

Hopefully it won't be another release 7.1.1.314 <:

I agree that there should be some kind of database to search for bugs and limitations. In my case I just found out recently that some library functions were locked for multithreading. I would have appreciated to learn this earlier as this is crucial for my project. Limitations should be documented at least with the feature description in the doc.

Thanks,

Louis

There's an NI News email??

Oh yeah... I think I've seen them..
I get so many, mostly invites to conferences that I don't read them 😉

There's limitations on Multithreading???!!!!>?>????@@@!!!! YIKES!!

I have to do a bit of reading.!! 😄

Good to hear that other people saw that behavior. I have to log into this forum more often. 😉

Actually if you find any information about those limitations send em my way because so far I haven't found anything specific about that, just rumors about some libraries being locked for multithreading 😉

All,

I have been having problems reinstalling CVI 7.1.1. I was able to uninstall CVI but when I went to reinstall I was getting an error stating that a later patched version was installed and installation was aborted.

(See thread http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=180&message.id=16888).
