What do you have to do, to make a Table Control accept input from the keyboard?

I'm using 7.1, but have tried this in 6.0 also. Very simple project -- one panel, quit button and a Table Control. Table control is set to Hot. Cells set to Hot.

When launched, the table cells will not accept intput from the keyboard.

Did I miss something somewhere, that the Table or the keyboard has to be enabled in some way to work?

To edit a cell, double-click it or press F2.
Look at the help for the Table control for more info and restrictions on the edit mode.
