What is the expected release date for Labwindows/CVI 2009

Since the beta testing program is ending, I would like to know what is the expected release date?

This version seems to be worth upgrading to!

Based on past experience, NI does not announce dates ahead of time.  Often people will get their discs in the mail before they know about the release, unless they continually watch some of the download or product info pages on the NI web site.

Hi Layosh,

Thank you for participating in the LabWindows/CVI beta program. Involvement from the LabWindows/CVI community during the development process ensures that we continue to deliver a proven software development framework that increases the productivity of scientists and engineers creating ANSI C test and measurement applications.

Yes, Ian is correct that we do have a policy of not announcing release dates because they are subject to change without notice. However, you might be surprised how quickly the new software version will arrive! Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of LabWindows/CVI on ni.com/cvi and ni.com/cvi/community.

Thanks again,

Will there be a release of the CVI for Linux to bring it up to the current version?

Or should I consider CVI for Linux a dead end?

Hi Wally,

Our plans haven't changed since my post from about a year ago. We are planning a Linux module update in 2010.

The danger is that in the mean time I will learn enough about the native Linux tools like Glade3 and GTK+ & Gnome to no longer find Linux for CVI to the solution for my UI programming problems.

What is mostly missing for me is anything in the same league as the CVI stripchart control.  OTOH I've discovered a stand alone program called KST and if I write data to a file I can point KST at it and get a stripchart scrolling display that is even better than CVI's in that it can be paused, and scrolled back for inspection, and them scroll forward to new data that has come in, or jump back to the end for live monitoring.  Snapshots can be printed without impacting my data acquisition. Very nice.
