I want to thank everyone for their responses.  I am looking at Roberto's code and I am about to try it.  Luis, I don't understand where this code would fit into Roberto's example.  Can you explain it to me?

Donna, Luis suggestion substitutes part of my solution: with this tip you can go back to my previous one, that with the deferred callback. I have modified my code integrating this feature and it works well: you can look at the attached new version.
