Why not C++

Althought I think CVI is a great dev. tool, yet I wonder what's the idea behind
basing it on C lang. and not o.o.p lang. such as C++ . wouldn't it be a much
powerfull IDE if it was object oriented.

LabWindows/CVI has been around since 1987. At the time when it was created,
C was the vastly predominate language. CVI is designed for the test and
measurement application in which C has also been the predominate language.
Only is the last couple of years has C++ become a strong presence in the
test and measurement application world. Programming with GPIB intruments
and data acquisition is still based on C at the driver level today.

Now that C++ is used by a large part of test and measurement engineers, we
are addressing those needs with a new product for use with Visual C++. This
product releases with the new version of LabWindows/CVI in a programming
suite called Measurement Studio in February. If you prefer programming in
C++, you should consider Measurem
ent Studio which gives you CVI, tools for
Visual C++, and ComponentWorks for Visual Basic.
