Why the CVI compiler doesn't warn from 'defined variables but not used' is
there any other way to test my source for defined but not used variables
such as the lint command in unix ?

Hi Daniel,
This feature is not present in CVI. This has
been a suggestion in the past but has not been implemented yet, for various
reasons..
I will however add your name to the list of CVI users who have requested
this feature.
