It's not supported and there is no pland to do that either, apparently demand is not big enough. ASK NI, they said in the past if demand is big enough they will do it.

Hi Muthus

Are you looking for a CVI ADE on Linux or the ability to run a CVI application on Linux? Linux support is something we are looking into for future versions of CVI.

With your approval, I can get your contact information from the forums and that to contact you when we have something available for CVI on Linux. Let me know if this is appropriate.

Thanks

Sounds good. In any case, you can always provide product feedback here once you get more information about the requirements.

Thanks

You might want to look into the "Crossover Office" product from http://www.codeweavers.com/.

It is based on WINE (WINdows Emulator) for Linux...

They currently have a database of over 1300 applications.  To see all the Windows apps that run on it,
simply follow the "compatibility" link on the home page of their web site.

They are soliciting for LabWindows/CVI users to verify that it works OK on it, any volunteers?

To whom it may concern: My alias is also my nickname, I've had it since I was a (very) skinny basketball-playing teen. OK, so I've got a 38 inch waist now, but my hometown friends haven't shaken that appellation for me. I trust that you will someday be OK with that alias, as I have been with that nickname.

I think that LabWindows is used a lot in universities, and I know a lot of universities use Linux a lot for simulation programs or measuring computers. I would certainly like it very much if my Spectrum Viewer application would run in Linux as well. So if any future updates include Linux, count me in. Supporting Linux would make any application portable, which would be a pretty valuable asset IMO.

Hello everyone,

In an attempt to try to catch everyone who might have a LabWindows/CVI and Linux or Real-Time interest, I'm going to repost this information in this thread as well. I know this thread has been going on for a few years now, but I wanted to update whoever is interested in the latest LabWindows/CVI modules that we've released to try to address your multiplatform support needs:

So we now have a Real-Time Module, which allows you to develop LabWindows/CVI apps on a Windows machine and run on a real-time PXI or PC target.
Also, to partly address the main subject of this thread, in August, we release the Run-Time Module for Linux, which similarly allows you to develop on a Windows machine as you always have with CVI, and then run your application on multiple Linux distributions.

That's a brief overview of the latest modules, but if you want more information on what hardware is supported and also a more in-depth discussion on the module, take a look at the following resources:
Real-Time Module: www.ni.com/lwcvi/realtime

Thanks.
