easytab panel with subpanels, subpanels don't gain focus properly

Using LabWindows 7.0, I have an easytab with a panel that has several subpanels under it. The subpanels overlap one another. When running the interface, if I click on one of the subpanels, it does not gain focus, that is it does not come to the front as expected. Without easytab, the subpanel behavior is normal - the clicked on subpanel comes to the front. Why is the behavior different using easytab?

I would really appreciate if you have a project or a uir that I could use to replicate this problem. I was not able to find any previous reports of this and there should be not much difference in the way a panel gets focus when using an EasyTab.
