Hello Xen,

First make sure that all previous installation processes are complete before trying to install CVI. Make sure that all other Windows applications are closed. Then try copying the contents of the installation CD to your hard drive and installing from there.

Thanks.

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for your advice.

I followed your suggestions, but unfortunately didn't work for me. I tried to install from the harddisk, but the software didn't response when I clicked "Install LabWindow\CVI". I also turned off all background applications (virus scanning, firewall... etc), and installed from the CD, but the installation always stopped at 31% -- when it was copying the "nireports\setup.exe" file. This is repeatable. I've tried installing on another drive of the same notebook, but still failed at the same progress.

I wonder if it is related to my notebook: Fujitsu S6010, or some Windows Services I turned off (I follow the www.blackviper.com advice, and so far the notebook runs very well.)

Hello Xen,

Most likely the problem is that CVI 5.5 is not supported on WinXP. In fact, according to the Release Notes,

"
To run LabWindows/CVI, you must have the following:
• Personal computer using a Pentium 90 or higher microprocessor
• Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3, Windows 98, or Windows 95
• 800 by 600 resolution (or higher) video adapter
• Minimum of 16 MB of RAM
• 50 MB free hard disk space
• Microsoft-compatible mouse
"

So I would suggest either upgrading your version of CVI or installing CVI on a machine with a different operating system (2000, NT, 98 or 95).

Thanks.
