popup menu bug

When I right click on a tree item in my application, the popup menu appears but I cannot select a menu item. Any ideas on what I might have done wrong?

Hello ajwalsh,

Can you catagorize when you see this behavior a little bit more.

Which version of CVI and the runtime engine are you using? Does this happen when you click on the active item of the tree or only when you click on an inactive item?

Thanks.

Hi Wendy;
First off, many thanks for your reply. I’ll try to be brief. You asked “Does this happen when you click on the active item of the tree or only when you click on an inactive item?” The answer is that it happens when you right click on an inactive item only. The menu pops up, but I am unable to select a menu item. If I use the left mouse button & double click an inactive item in the tree (making it active) and THEN right click the item, the menu appears & items can be selected in the normal manner. I am thinking this is a bug of some kind. For example, I ran the sample application called “treeevent” and in that application, I can right click on any inactive tree item & the menu appears & I am able to select a menu item. However, in my custom app, it doesn’t appear to work that way. I am running LabWindows/CVI version 7.0.0 on a standard Dell workstation running XP. As far as the runtime engine goes, the cvirte.dll file installed in my Windows\System32 directory is dated July 29, 2003. I guess I don’t know exactly how to determine the version of the runtime engine. Thanks again,

Andy

Hello ajwalsh,

Thank you for your feedback. This issue has been previously documented and fixed in CVI 7.1. I have confirmed that this problem no longer exists in CVI 7.1 and would thus suggest upgrading to the most recent version of CVI.

Thanks again.
