Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that the way CVI manages the projects is lacking.
Looking at the workspace in the workspace / project window, you cannot tell the actual names of project files (you can see the workspace filename in the title bar).
If you edit the project, there's no way to know what the project filename is. You see only the project label.
Editing the workspace, you do see the project filename, but not the project label.
Wouldn't it make more sense to be able to see both the project filename and the project label at the same time, in the same place?
As it is now, you have to do some detective work to figure out what project label is in what project file is in what workspace, and it can be fairly confusing

You have a point. It probably should be more visible. But, in the meanwhile, I can give you a couple of quick tips:
1. The Edit Project dialog shows you the file name, if you hover over the project name for a couple of seconds.
2. If you need only the basename of the file, and the rest of the path isn't that important, you can see it in the File menu. There's an item in there named "Save <project name> As..."
