"Can I compile for Windows 3.1 using LabWindows/CVI 6.0 on Windows 2000?"

Hi,
I'm currenrtly developping a mesurment application on LabWindows/CVI 6.0 runnings under Windows 2000. I Also, have the obligation that my application have to run on Windows 3.1. So i would like to know if my CVI software version is good for such development. If it's not the case i would like whitch CVI Version i have to use to develop correctly a Windows 3.1 compliant application.

Thanx

No. Please read the release notes (in cvi/bin/) find the ReleaseNotes.pdf
and open it. On the very first page the list of supported OS is given and
Win 3.1 is not listed.

By the way, if someone can tell me why all the .pdf and .txt files are in
the "bin" sub-directory and NOT in a clean, good looking "Doc" sub
directory.
In addition I guess it would help every one if and only if one "group" of
icons was created in the start menu when we install CVI (like Tools, Help
etc.)
Finally, it would help everyone if instead of an048.pdf we could have title
like "FFT fundamental with CVI.pdf". Believe me, this is why Internet DNS
was created. Simply because ni.com is much more understandable by a human
than 192.9.200.14 :-))

The idea behind all this is that many questions
could find easily answers if
and only if a little bit more was done to give more visibilty to the
documentation. Do not misunderstand what I say. I prefer a stable product
like CVI than a well documented blue screen generator. I'm always really
impressed by the work done by the CVI team but it I'm always surprised by
the way they behave regarding such polishing details.

Philippe,

I agree that the names and locations are cryptic, but the idea was not for folks to have to go browse their harddrives looking for this information. Rather, the idea was for these documents to be navigated using the online Library. You can find it in:

Start Menu>>Programs>>National Instruments>>Measurement Studio>>Help>>Measurement Studio Library,

and then select LabWindows/CVI

Luis,

this sound very good to me and answer most of my concerns regarding the
visibilty of the documentation coming with CVI.

In the next version of CVI, is there a way to add an option to this local
web page in the Help menu of the CVI IDE (under Content and Windows DSK, or
as a second choice, at the botom of the Tools menu). Indeed, as a user I use
to click on the CVI icon in the start menu (I even have a shurt cut, CTRL
+C, in order to launch CVI) and after few days the National Instrument
option "disapears" from the start menu. Having such option in the Help menu
would ensure to give visibility to the amount of documentation that comes
with CVI.

I hope this help. Best regards, Philippe
